Q: Dhr
My sister is wanting to place her daughter with me, a few weeks ago DHR showed up at her house and walked into her house uninvited say that they have reports of child neglect. She had allowed her daughter to spend the night at a friend's house and come to find out the friend is the one who called in the first place. Anyway Dhr forced her to do a saftey plan saying they would place the baby in foster care if she didn't do the plan so being under pressure she place with the same lady who called DHR. This worker and the lady have had dealing in the past you could say there friendly. Last weekend the lady took the baby out of state for a graduation and when reported to the worker she said it was no big deal she could just sign a paper saying it was ok. But she never wanted the baby leaving state. Also she has another trip planned next month. And again doesn't want child out of state. She has stressed she wants to change the saftey plan to a family member witch is me. DHR workers said there
A: FIrst, she was not forced to agree to a safety plan. She could have refused, and they would have probably picked up the child. If DHR won't approve a change in the safety plan you can always force the issue and go to court in a private custody petition, but you might want to take a close look at what facts made the state want to take over the care of the child?
