Q: How long does prosecution have to prosecute a Nj 35:C-10? Charged in 2016 and just now receiving court date.

A: More information is needed to properly answer your question, but in general as long as they want, unless a speedy trial motion was made. That being said the statute of limitations generally has to deal with the time in which a charge needs to be filed and served upon the defendant. Generally the worse the case is the longer it takes to prosecute. I suggest you hire a lawyer as any 2C charge is a serious charge with possible jail time.

A: There's no such charge as c-10. Did they just charge you now or in 2016? if 2016 why did it take so long to get court date is it because there was warrant? too many questions need to be answered to answer your question. Anyway, generally speedy trial rights are triggered after about a year or so.
