North Port, FL asked in Divorce for Florida

Q: My ex and I were married in 1986 in the state of California, then again in Ohio a couple months later.

We divorced about 11 years later but only in California, are we still married in Ohio?

A: Your California divorce ended your marriage, whether the marriage had commenced with one, two, or a dozen ceremonies, and no matter where such ceremonies happened. Ohio has to recognize the California divorce.

A: Also, you may be guilty of some crime in Ohio by filling out a marriage license certificate which falsely indicated you were not married.

Are you wondering whether you need to again divorce in Ohio or, more to the point, in Florida? No.
