Q: I just filed my Petition for Probate today. When do I have to place the notices in a paper and what should they include?

There are no other beneficiaries besides me and there are no creditors. thanks.

A: If you already have your case number and hearing date then I would recommend contacting the newspaper right away as publication has to be done 15 days prior to the hearing date. They usually just want the completed notice of petition, but you can always ask the paper what information they require.

A: If you are the only person entitled to notice, then you would send the notice to yourself (although the probate code says that the petitioner does not need to send notice to himself, I find that probate examiners want to see a notice in the file).

But you said, you are the only beneficiary. That does not mean that you are the only person entitled to notice. Call or email an attorney for a full consultation.

A: The notices should be mailed at least 15 days prior to the hearing on the petition for probate.
