Asked in Landlord - Tenant for Ohio

Q: Can i get rid of a room mate at the end of the lease

My landlord has been aware of my boyfriend not getting a job or paying rent for 10 of 12 months. He told me his lawyer told him that since we both signed the lease that he couldnt take a name off or evict just 1 of us. I have paid the rent out of my disability check on the 3rd of every month. I am on limited income and this is the only apt i can afford by myself. I get $780 a month and rent here is $300. How can i keep it by myself

A: At the end of the lease, the landlord can sign a new lease with whomever he or she chooses. I suspect the landlord won't be interested in having your bf on the lease anymore and will simply sign with you, if that's what you request and the landlord is aware he isn't working.
