Q: I was in fight with my girlfriend and she press charges on me And now she want to withdraw the charges how can she do it
Can she just not go to the court date or what is the right way
A: If she tries to recant her statement, she could be charged with filing a false police report which is a misdemeanor or felony depending on the false crime reported. It’s best for her not to show up at court if she wants the charge to go away. If she fails to show, the prosecutor won’t be able to prove the case and you can request that the judge dismiss the case.
