A: Technically New Jersey does not have felony and misdemeanor classifications so everything is a criminal offense. However, in every other state this would be considered a felony because you face three to five years in jail $15, 000 in fines restitution to the victi, and probation. I suggest you immediately hire a good lawyer to try to reduce or eliminate these penalties you face. Most of us criminal defense lawyers offer free in office consultation. I suggest you set one up asap, as the more time an attorney has to work on your case the better the results you will get.

A: Yes anything over $500 is a felony and since it's below $75,000.00 it's third degree indictable charge because in Jersey we don't call charges felonies or misdemeanors but indictable and disorderly persons offenses only.
