Asked in Consumer Law and Animal / Dog Law for Tennessee

Q: What can I do? I don't have much money! I have all email/text correspondence with Sky Cargo Ways.

I purchased a puppy that was coming from Virgina. The seller was sending the puppy through a company named Sky Cargo Ways. The first time this company required money from me for the puppy's transport was for a ventilated carrier to safely transport the puppy. They wanted $650 for this with the promise that I was just "renting the crate" and would be refunded $605 After the flight. Then they wanted $750 forblife insurance for the puppy (which we suppose to be refundable upon delivery)... then they wanted another $200 for a city permit and for food to feed the puppy.

They kept promising me delivery, and never did it. Now today (July 30th) they are stating that they want $450 for overstay of the puppy and food again (mind you this is a 10 week old Yorkie puppy!). So, once again, I was promised by the company that the puppy (and my money refund) would be delivered today..... It is 10:15 pm and I have received no puppy and they are not answering my texts or answering my calls!

A: I’m sorry to say, but it looks like the company is a scam.

A number of websites describe the scam. Here are two examples:

If you paid by credit card, please dispute the charges with your credit card company.

I wouldn’t send this company any more money.

You can also file a complaint with your state’s attorney general.

Good luck, and I’m sorry.
