Q: i got into a wreck that was my fault no insurance calim has been filed can i go to jail

the truck and insurance is in my mother in laws name i wasnt covered and the other person had liability no claim was filed there was 4000$ worth of damage can i go to jail for not being able to pay for this vehicle

A: Usually coverage follows the vehicle. If you are an excluded driver different states handle this differently. You won't go to jail for anything. But under certain circumstances you could have your license suspended. Be good if you and your mother in law got a consultation with a member of the Alabama Assn for Justice. Usually they don't charge but as you were at fault they may. You'd want to cover the expense as a way of making a bit of good for your mother in law.
