Monterey, CA asked in Workers' Compensation for California

Q: I tore a tendon in my foot trying to catch the elevator at//before work. Should comp or regular insurance cover this?

I work for a mechanical contractor, and this happened before work, on the job site property. I told my foreman, and he said to go home if I was hurting, I told him I would be ok and just needed a minute. I continued to work for about three hours, I was still in a LOT of pain and decided I should report it to the construction management, just for the record. My foreman came down and accused me of " trying to get medical", which I actually refused. I was sent home. I was told if I came back to work limping at all I would be sent home. I have had some ongoing plantar fasciitis, and I have worn out my knees from years of plumbing/pipe fitting so I do tend to limp some times.

The next morning I went to Dr in the box and told them what had happened, The P.A examined my foot and recommended treatment which I agreed to. I told him I needed a note to go back to work. He left the room and returned saying he could not treat me anymore, unless we went under workers comp. I left Untreated
