Q: CAN I SUE THE REAL ESTATE AGENT FOR VERBAL PROMISE TO RELOCATE ME ONCE MY MOMS HOUSE SOLD THRU PROBATE.

HE LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT I WOULD RECEIVE MY MONEY RIGHT AWAY. I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT PROBATE NOR ABOUT SELLING A HOME. I THINK HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE FACT THAT I KNEW NOTHING ABOT PROBATE AND SELLING A HOUSE. I HAD TO MOVE OUT AND SPENT MY SMALL IHERITANCE ON MOTELS AND STORAGE TO WHICH HE SAID I WOULDNT HAVE TO. HE HAD ALSO STATED HE WOULD TAKE ME TO LOOK FOR A NEW HOME WHICH WAS ALSO A LIE.

A: Verbal promises are as good as the paper they are drawn on (i.e. no good). However, if your agent failed to properly present documents to you, or instruct you as to signing them, you might want to contact the California Dept. of Real Estate about this agent. You can also enter his name on that website and check out his status and credentials. Agents are supposed to be honest and ethical. It sounds like he didn't live up to those standards.
