Charleston, WV asked in Car Accidents and Traffic Tickets for Kentucky

Q: I was pulled over for failure to give right of way to an emergency vehicle. Says I have to show to to court?

I am from out of state I was driving in the right lane going the speed limit, I didn't see the officer on the side of the road until it was almost too late to react, I had crossed over the fog line because I panicked and slammed on my break I ended up slowing down to about 55-60mph by the time I got passed him, he hit his siren once as I passed but I didn't think anything about it, he still had his lights on but did not proceed after me right away, he had caught up to me about 10 miles down the road. I then pulled over, he got out with his hand on his gun and screamed at me when he got to my window, the citation he gave me said I had to appear in court, I am a full-time student in West Virginia where I live, I also work full time, I would have to miss both work and my classes, is there anyway I can pay my fine and not have to drive 200 miles away to go to court?

A: No. You cannot pay the ticket and not appear in court. You can, however, hire an attorney to appear for you in that court and possibly resolve it without you coming to court.
