Fairfield, CA asked in Criminal Law for Utah

Q: i am being charged with assault w/the risk of bodily injury, as an adult.

a girl came to my house to fight my sister, and has been harrassing her and threatening her since last year (we have screenshots but dont know how helpful they will actually be), and the fight occurred IN OUR HOUSE and my sister is being charged with disorderly conduct and i am being charged with assault w the risk of bodily injury because this girl LIED and said after the altercation between her and my sister, i punched her in the face twice. what can i do? i have not spoken to any cops and nobody has gotten my side of the story other than my court appointed attorney. i was also wondering if my family could press charges on the girl for harrassing my sister and jumping her a couple months ago?

A: Your attorney is the one to get your side of the story. That is their job. Only the police can press charges.
