Q: Can police just arbitrarily run tags on parked cars?
My son had driven to the local library and had been inside for approx 20 mins. According to my friend who was sitting in her car in the parking lot she observed 2 police cars pull up and run her plates and my sons plates, which were not his. He is currently on probation. They then proceeded to question him in the library and then detain him because the plate came back as stolen. Not sure how they knew it was his car other than they have been watching him. They local police have a history of harassing both of my boys and I have decided to file charges. Question is that this seems illegal to me, is it? This is in Arkansas
