Arlington, TX asked in Traffic Tickets for Texas

Q: My domestic partner got a citation for an opened beer but, the beer is not his. He took the fault for his own brother.

His brother was the one who was suppose to get the ticket and not my partner, my partner was forced to get blamed for the opened beer. His brother promised to pay for the ticket that belongs to him and not my partner. Now that his brother backstabbed him about paying off the ticket my partner is stuck with a ticket that doesnt belong to him. My question now is how can my partner avoid paying off the ticket knowing that its not his??.

A: If your partner admitted to police that the beer was his, it's a little late to back out now. He always has the right to a jury trial and tell his story. The problem is overcoming the argument of the prosecutor: " Was he lying then we he talked with the cop, or is he lying to you now, ladies and gentlemen of the jury?" Either way, he's a liar. Calling a local attorney would help. Good luck.
