Atlanta, GA asked in Family Law for Alabama

Q: Do I have rights to access to my son's information, (school, medical) now that he is 18? He lives in Oregon.

My ex states that she is under no obligation anymore to divulge his educational standing, or anything for that matter (he is supposed to be in his senior year of high school) now that he has turned 18. Our court order states I have rights to all his educational information, etc. but it doesn't state to what age. It is my belief that she has let him quit school, and that's why she doesn't want me to have access to the information. She claims he is taking his senior year online. I would like to at least know if my son is still attending school. Do I have those rights now that he is 18? I am still paying support, going on 15 years. Why don't I have those rights? I am an "Erased" parent, going on 2 years now.

A: Have you ever been to court? If you are the father and have custodial rights (visitation etc) with the child she has to communicate with you about this. 19 is the age of majority in Alabama. If you don't want to be 'erased' go to court.
