Calhoun, GA asked in Divorce for Alabama

Q: What happens when errors are made in Divorce decrees? Transcripts from court don't match document.

The case was argued in court and agreement was hammered out in chambers. Original dispersal of assets was modified in court discussions and was presented orally to the court. The court reporter clearly stated the correct agreement and the lawyer that prepared the document clearly agreed to prepare it. Divorce decree was submitted by to judge and signed. The defendant has came back a year later after they were paying the debt and found the error was made in their favor. They have now filed suit for contempt knowing the document was wrong. I have called the lawyer back that prepared the document and have not received any reply. What are my options to fight this error? Would not the Lawyer that prepared the divorce decree be liable? This is in Alabama...
