Phoenix, AZ asked in Contracts, Landlord - Tenant and Legal Malpractice for California

Q: What recourse do I have for a judgement entered against me on a case the Judge states I didn't owe money?

The judge made an error in the law. The Judge passed away shortly after. I hired an attorney to get me a new trial based on error in the law. I never got the new trail, the attorney abandoned the case and was fired by the law firm. I never got my retainer back but most importantly I have a judgement on my record I fear will prevent me from getting a mortgage for my first home. Please advise?

A: You can hire an attorney to file an appeal if there is still sufficient time.

You can negotiate with the Judgment Creditor about settlement in exchange for a Full Satisfaction of Judgment.

You can file for bankruptcy.

Consult with a contracts attorney and/or a bankruptcy attorney.
