A: If you cannot afford an attorney, a Public Defender will be appointed to represent you by the court assuming you are income eligible (you will be required to fill out a form listing your income and expenses to determine such eligibility).

Even if you don't think you can afford to retain an attorney, I nevertheless recommend that you consult with a few attorneys in your area who specialize in DUI law. Depending on the facts of your case, you may have one of several potential defenses and not know it as PD's are in a rush to "dispo" cases (plead their clients out to the criminal charges).

A: Write out a detailed summary of facts including what you drank, over what period time, what was said etc.

When u get to court ask the judge to appoint a public defender to see if you qualify.
