Abilene, TX asked in Child Custody and Child Support for Texas

Q: How can I reverse child support when my child is now living with me?

My 15 year old daughter is currently living with me. My daughter and mother became homeless and my daughter came to live with me and has been with me since June 22, 2018. Before school started, her mother was supoosed to show up to pick her up. When she finally showed up, in a brand new car mind you, my daughter didn't want to go with her. She wanted to stay with me. Her mother became upset. Since my dauhter was going to be living with me, I needed to get her enrolled in school. Her mother wouldn't and didn't give me any information so I could enroll her in school. My dauther didn't start school til 3 days later by me talking with the school about the situation. Her mother told my daughter that she will have to suffer. My daughter didn't have any clothes except a pair of old pants to wear. She wouldn't give my dauther her clothes. And now they are taking $250 out my check for child support but my daughter is living with me. She's going to spend the money on herself.

A: You need to go back to court and seek a modification of the child support order currently in place.
