Q: Can a landlord show up with a 10 hour notice to move into a vacant room in a shared house to stay there indefinitely?
Landlord is not a live-in landlord. The only clause on our leases is that the Landlord has to provide 24 hour notice before showing up, for repairs/maintenance. Landlord has now contacted us 10 hours ahead of time, stating that they are moving into the vacant room of our house indefinitely, until it is rented out to some one else.

From your question, it sounds as if this is a house in which you expected that landlord has the right to pick and choose tenants to fill vacant rooms in a shared house. If this is true, it is unlikely that there is any provision in your lease that would prohibit the landlord from living in such a vacant room that is not part of the premises governed by your lease (if you are just renting a room and access to the common areas as opposed to you renting the entire house).
If there are restrictions about when landlord can come and with how much notice, pay attention to whether they use a specific defined term like "premises" or "your premises" that is defined to just your area of the house as opposed to the house more generally. Even if landlord must give you x hours notice before coming into your room, landlord may have the right to come and go within other areas of the house (common areas) with more freedom and less notice.
Does the lease require landlord to give you a notice before renting the vacant room to anyone else? Does the lease require the landlord to get your approval of the proposed new tenant in a vacant room before signing a lease with that new tenant?
