Q: What happens in a pretrial in KY?
My girlfriend swore infront of the judge I did not harm her In anyway before he released me on my own recolonise I was instructed to take a dv class but was not given any info and then was told I needed to take the class before my next court date of 9/27/18. I called the county clerk office a little later and she told me she didn't see anything about taking a dv class and the court date is for a pretrial. My boyfriend was not told this nor was he offered an attorney by the judge for a defense attorney from the state. We were planning on showing up for court, showing the judge he took the said dv class and be done with it but that's not what the county clerk said at all! Not only that my boyfriend was not offered an attorney but there is also a conflict of interest with this particular judge. We paid this judge a couple of mo ago for an apt, but it didn't work out and so now there's a conflict of interest, can we ask for a different judge, should we? I'm worried! Bowling Green, K
A: If the judge told him to take the dv class, he’d better take the dv class. The county clerk does not handle the matters as you describe. Call the public defenders office and ask where to take the dv class so he can have it finished by 9/27. There does not appear to be any conflict of interest with the judge nor would I ask for another judge.
