Q: In California can an eviction be served by mail, it was not certified.
My sister is friends with the owner. The owner has not returned calls, his mother won't give him any messages. This has gone on for almost 8 years of occupancy. The place has no border trims in most of the rooms. The owner said if we moved in any problems would be taken care of as they arise. John who owns the place was behind in property taxes and homeowners association fees. We did him a favor by moving in. And to this day he has yet to speak to my sister personally about this condo. His sister told my sister just save your money until you have enough to move out. My sister and her kids are not moving out together now. They need separate monies to move on. They don't have enough yet. My sister received an eviction through USPostal service, it wasn't certified. There is a Property Manager now for three years who has not been nice. He mailed the Eviction to her.

"No border trims". Does not sound as if that makes the place uninhabitable, and you have lived with it for 8 years.
Served with an "eviction". Exactly what did this "eviction" say? What kind of rental agreement do you have, oral or written, fixed term or month-to-month? Do you have a question? And some relevant facts would be helpful, like whether the rent is current, who the tenants are that are being evicted.
