Q: Im currently 16 years old. My license was suspended numerous times for driving without a license at the age of 14.
Im in nj and it was suspended in nj. Ive been to court and am currently paying all my fines. Ive received multiple mail from DMV saying my license would be suspended from 180 days starting from the day i received the suspension but the judge and everybody else would tell me the suspension would actually start the minute i was eligible for a license. I was wondering when my suspension would actually start, and if so, am i eligible for a license when i turn 17? or do i actually have to wait the 6 month periods? and do the 6 months period start every 6 months because i have multiple 6 month suspensions.
A: Ask you lawyer but generally your suspension starts after your eligible to get uour license once you applied and past the tests.
A: Suspension starts when you go to get your license. You will not get your license at 17 bc of the prior driving while unlicensed. You actually have to wait six months for each and every driving while unlicensed that you have on your record. You will have to serve every six month period that you were given so in other words it's run consecutive not concurrent. If you have three of them then from the day you are eligible and you go get your license you must wait 18 months.
