Covington, LA asked in Animal / Dog Law for Louisiana

Q: Sitter neglecte = 2,600 emergency vet bill. Should she pay cost?

My husband & I left our kids & dog with a friend so we could go out of state for a funeral. On Thursday 12am we left, youngest had a dental procedure that day. Sitter allowed youngest to chew extremely bad hole in lip because she didnt want to say anything to kid(didnt tell me how bad it was till i was headed home on Saturday), Friday she set my stove on fire, Saturday morning she sent pictures of youngest lip, 2 hours later she called to inform me that our husky ate a needle. I left detailed instructions on care for kids and animals including a 30 min conversation about not leaving the husky unattended. Saturday-made it home, watched surveillance cameras to see what all happened those 3 days. Come to find out the sitter spent 75% of time in my room while my children 11 & 7 yrs spent it alone watching them selves including another child ahe was watching for another family.Husky had to seek immediate emergency care that resulted in a cost of 2,600.Should she pay the cost due neglect.

A: Not worth suing her if she has no assets. If you got her from a service, notify the service. Otherwise avoid her like the plague.

A: If she works for a service, the service will have insurance.
