My dog broke the fence and got out and now I'm being charged with a misdemeanor. I'm not sure what I need to do.

You should use the Justia Find a Lawyer tab and search for criminal defense lawyers in your area---call a few and find out if any have experience in these type cases----then meet with them and discuss the specifics of your matter and the options you have and then decie how to proceed, including... I sit by parking lot curb at local tractor supply, facing the highway, and many people tell me it's illegal but non can tell me the law about it.

Every town/city may have different laws regarding this. I would recommend contacting the local police to see if there are any licensing requirements or limitations you should know about.
Recently the landlord and I finally came to an agreement over damages her neglect caused my property. The next day she began demanding my dog be put on a leash. My service dog had not been leashed in almost a year, since she had become a service dog.

answered on Apr 11, 2023
Your service dog cannot be required to be on a leash in two instances: 1) your disability prevents you from using a leash, and 2) the service your dog performs for you as a result of your disability cannot be performed if the dog is on a leash.
How would I approach this? Husky dog ran up into our yard on our porch attacked my mother service dog, who is a chiweenie on our porch. You should contact a personal injury lawyer (or a few of them) in your area to discuss the specifics of your matter and what has transpired thus far--I suggest a few because most will provide a free initial consultation. Also, you can contact the owner of the husky dog and and inquire of his... View More

Arrested for aggravated felony Cruelty to Animals. Paper shows court date is 8:30 am Tuesday, 5/31/22

answered on May 30, 2022
The courthouse is closed today (Memorial Day) is closed so I suggest that you simply show up at the district courthouse in the jurisdiction you were arrested Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. You do not want to miss your court date as that would result in a bench warrant being issued. Since you have a felony... View More
The breeder was recently busted with a backyard breeding facility that has been raided. She lost all but 3 dogs. I live in Louisiana but she lives in Missouri.

Report breeder to:
1) vet that gave any shots or did any exams,
2) Missouri Dept of Agriculture,
3) American Kennel Club,
4) Post several negative ads on social media.
This is just for future knowledge so I can avoid any problems. I just want to know if someone can still break into my car even if I take precautions to make my dog as comfortable as possible. I once took him into town with me to the park and when I was heading home, I suddenly got a message from my... View More

To leave your dog in the car risks you losing your dog, damage to your car and a fine.

Your dog can run free only if you have a fenced yard. Otherwise he needs to be walked on a leash.
His health has improved dramatically since I've cared for him.

Actually had EXACTLY that experience with a collie puppy about 10 years ago. I made a complaint to AKC, the Vet she used for vaccinations, Louisiana Dept of Ag and a civil suit with the Justice of the Peace in the breeders parish.
I am the true owner, I am registered in his AKC registration, all vet bills, payments, etc. He means the world to me.

Pets are required treated like an appliance in Louisiana. You can get Rover back in the property partition

Hahaha no. They can't sue you for dog statutory rape either. But they can get your dog picked up for not being on a leash or behind a fence.

File a criminal complaint if this psycho shot a deadly weapon through your fence. Then file a civil suit against him with the justice of the peace for vet bills, the price you paid to buy, license, vaccinate, groom, bathe, and feed the dog every year. In other words attach a spread sheet.
The pitbull has been seen across the street and been seen chasing the local feral cats. We have children in the area as well I worry about. At best the dogs are caged most the day but let loose to run free multiple times a day with no fences.

Take photos of the dog crapping in your yard, running loose, chasing cats, chasing kids, chasing dogs. THEN file a complaint with animal control.
My children’s two dogs have gotten loose on two separate occasions only for a matter of minutes. Someone called animal control each time. Now I have 6 charges I have to go to court for. BUILD A FENCE. Yes the owners of the dogs are responsible for the tickets.
I live in Louisiana. A man was walking down the street in front of my house and my dog ran into the street where he was. He's not aggressive at all. He's a small/midsized dog and he's very friendly. He just wants people to pet him. The guy shot my dog in the face at point blank range... View More

Call Animal Protection and press animal cruelty charges. Then contact the Justice of the Peace and file suit against the gun toting psycho. Then build a fence.
This has been going on for over 2 years. Speaking to the owners, repeatedly, and having to call both the Glenmora Police Department and Rapides Parish Sherriff's Department Subsation in Glenmora, repeatedly, has not brought any relief. 1) Make a criminal complaint with Sheriff's and Animal Control.
2) Put up fence for any dogs you may own in future.
3) Take pictures.
4) File suit with the Justice of the Peace for purchase price for your dog and any vet bills.
