Newport News, VA asked in Traffic Tickets for Virginia

Q: With me being an Active Duty service member can the state of Virginia "Cancel" my Virginia drivers license for moving?

I was given orders to Pax River Maryland December of 2017. May of 2018 I renewed my vehicle registration online through the Virginia DMV website. I obtained a traffic violation in Maryland in November 2018. And was told by the officer during the traffic stop that my Virgina license was canceled. After contacting the Virginia DMV they told me when I entered my Maryland address in the Virginia DMV website to have my new Virginia tags delivered to my house....that I gave up my Virginia residence. I am active duty service member of the arm forces and have been for the last 23 years. What can I do to fix this?

If you're not a Virginia resident I'm not sure you can do this now but there is a provision if you had applied.
