Los Angeles, CA asked in Animal / Dog Law for Kentucky

Q: My friend’s dog got loose out of her yard & the shelter picked him up. Didn’t sign anything, does he HAVE to get neuterd

Her dog got loose and lost his collar that had his home information. The shelter ended up taking him in and he had gotten surgery on his leg due to a car hitting him. He’s not dangerous and is a good dog. She didn’t sign any paperwork and told them she’s not getting him neutered. Does she have to if she didn’t sign anything? They plan to take her to court.

A: Yes, by virtue of the fact that he was loose (regardless of how that happened). She will have to pay for the surgery and the neutering if she wants him back.
