Gilbert, SC asked in Civil Litigation for Ohio

Q: I am losing my sale of home in Bedford,Ohio due to a 10 year old POS that came up prior to closing.

I own 2 homes in Bedford , Ohio. I was cited by Bedford on the 285 Columbus Rd home in 2018 to repair or remove the garage due to unsafe conditions. I applied for the permit and had the garage removed. In October 2018, in an attempt to get out of the rental business I arrange for an investor to purchase these homes (as is) at minimal cost to them.( Note: I am 73 years old and can no longer maintain the homes myself in order to maintain a profitable rental.) Also, I have moved out of state to South Carolina in 2010 and can no longer commute to Ohio to do the maintenance and inspections required of a good landlord.

I was in the process of completing a sale of these homes, at a loss, since the existing home improvement loan exceeds the sale of the homes. ( I just wanted to get out of the rental business.) When Bedford Building Inspector (Richard Hickman) brought up a Point Of Sale issued to me back in June of 2009(Issued to my deceased brother) on the 282 Marion Dr. home.
