Q: What can I do to get my 86yr. old mother, who has dementia, released from a 5yr contract she signed for a home security
My mother signed a 5year contract for an alarm system that she didn't need. She already had a system in her home. My brother spoke with the company who installed the system and told them that my mom has dementia. They said that if he provided a diagnosis from her doctor and if he described behaviors that he observes, they would release her from the contract. He did what they asked and then said they would release her form the contract, but we would have to pay $700.00 plus . We don't feel as though she should have to pay this amount. Can you help us?
A: A letter from a litigation attorney together with a diagnosis from her treating physician will eliminate the problem.
