Additionally there is a period of time within which your attorney will be negotiating with the insurance company, a process that is driven by the insurance company. If you and the insurance carrier are able to agree upon a figure, things can move quickly. However, if a case involves issues on which the parties are at an impasse, such as accepting liability or disagreements as to the severity of injuries, and those issues result in the claim being placed into suit, then the time period can become longer.
