Q: I received a ticket for stopping on a HWY. My driving record is good I have 3 points plus- I voluntarily took online cl

Class and earned 5 points - can the judge dismiss or at least agree to pay the pénality but not reporting to DMV? I’ve court day 2/7 can you please give me your opinion

A: It just depends on the judge. A lot of people make the mistake of reading on google to do driving school. Or they think that doing voluntary driving school will help with a dismissal. It may help, and it may hurt your case. Many judges won't let you "double dip" by getting a dismissal AND getting the 5 good points. Some judges don't care. The short answer is that whether this was a good idea or not depends on the particular court your case was in. I rarely ever have clients do voluntary driving school BEFORE the court date as most of the judges where I practice would view that negatively. But every court is different and some judges won't care.
