Atlanta, GA asked in Child Support for Florida

Q: Child support ending, Living in Puerto Rico, Children moved to Florida.

I'm based in Puerto Rico USA. My son moved with his Mother to Florida since October 2018 and he graduates from High School this year 2019 with 18 years old. Child support was accorded in Puerto Rico. Does the child support ends according to Florida Law? Another item is that I'm now married and have two step-kids. Can this be take into account for a revision?

Best Regards,

A: If the Puerto Rican child support order provides that child support ends when he graduates from high school, I believe that the Florida courts would have to give full faith and credit to the Puerto Rican court order. Therefore yes, your child support obligation would be finished.
