Lodi, NJ asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: I am a student with F-1 visa and I have driver’s licence from another country and a permit from NJ. Can I drive legally?

I just passed the knowledge test but I have 2 months until the road test. If I show both permit and my licence would that work? Or if it doesn’t what kind of ticket would I get?

A: You would get an unlicensed driver ticket ticket which could lead to up to 60 days jail and 6 months loss of license when eligible to drive and a fine and is not good when it comes to USCIS.

A: It depends on the cop. Most will still give you a ticket for unlicensed driver. If you're here for less than a year then you have a good defense to this charge. If more then there's still things that you can do. When I say you I mean with help of an attorney.
