Memphis, TN asked in Traffic Tickets for North Carolina

Q: Can the traffic citation be transferred to the local court in a different state?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to ask a question regarding the traffic citation I received last week while traveling in North Carolina.

The citation states that speeding ticket may be disposed of online at onlineservices.nccourts.org however, I found on the foregoing web site that my case is not eligible for online services due to the speed being outside of the range for online services.

Since I live in Memphis, TN, I would like to ask whether there is a way to handle the case in the local court here in Memphis, or perhaps there may be other way to dispose of the ticket without having to travel to North Carolina for the court appearance?

Thank you,

A: You should never pay off a ticket - even if you are allowed to do so. Lucky for you your ticket is likely a criminal traffic citation which prevents you from doing what dum dum's do which is simply pay it off. And of course you can not transfer a traffic ticket to a court closer to you for your convenience. Just hire a traffic attorney in the area where you got the ticket and be done with it. If your address on your ticket is correct, you should get a crap ton of letters from local traffic attorneys. You do not need F. Lee Bailey for a mere traffic ticket so just pick the cheapest one and roll with that. Oh, and of course stop speeding.
