Q: can i get a ticket for crossing over a solid white line?
I recently was in a left turn lane waiting at a red light and decided at the last minute that i wanted to go straight so i put on my turn signal and when the light turned green the second car in line let me in. A police officer was behind me in an unmarked car and pulled me over for crossing a solid white line. the law was unclear to about this by stating it discouraged this. Do i pay the fine or fight it in court?
Solid white lines show turn lanes and discourage lane changes near intersections, interchange/on- and off-ramps, and at other locations where lane changes might be dangerous. Solid white lines also mark the right edge of pavement. Arrows used with white lines indicate which turn may be made from the lane. Stop lines, crosswalks and parking spaces also are marked by white lines.
A: You're not allowed to change lanes if it's a solid line so you're guilty of it. They may help you if you hire a lawyer.
