Asked in Car Accidents for Georgia

Q: I was recently in a car accident and was labeled as at fault. However the other driver admitted guilt. What can I do?

I rear ended the other driver after they unexpectedly slammed on breaks on the interstate in Georgia.

A: First, contact a member of the Ga Trial Lawyers Assn for the county where it happened.--they give free consults. Second, do not discuss this further on this page or any page, or facebook etc.

Yours is a very tough case----in part because while the other driver is careless if they came to a complete stop and said they were, you have to leave enough room that she can stop "within the assured clear distance ahead, " in other words assuming something came into the path of the driver in front, a speed that still lets you stop if the driver in front has to make an emergency stop.

Their admission of guilt may help but it may be seen as them trying to be humble and polite --and that they were not correct in saying what they said. However if there was a reason they did that that was a wrong reason-- "I was looking at my phone, looked up, flinched and hit the brakes...." well, that could be room for argument.
