A: From what you are describing, it sounds like you were convicted of driving while you are suspended/revoked (for either a DUI or a drug charge) under VA code 18.2-272. One of the penalties under that statute is that the DMV takes your license for an additional 12 months (on top of the original suspension). In addition, you would lose your original restricted license. If that is the case, there is nothing you can do, other than wait out the suspensions, as your time to appeal the case has expired. If I am incorrect in what happened, you may have options, but would need to discuss them with an attorney.
