Chicago, IL asked in Family Law and Child Custody for Illinois

Q: I have a question about dcfs and my case with them.

I was clean from drug use for 1.5 years. I relapsed while pregnant. My daughter was born with heroin in her system so dcfs got involved. I not only asked for treatment while I was still in the hospital from giving birth to her and dcfs had interviewed me but when I relapsed again I asked for rehab and no one helped me. I relapsed twce in one month after givomg birth and now after asking for rehab 2x through dcfs they still left my daughter with me and then today i met with my caseworker and everything seemed fine, I finished our meeting feeling very positive that I would get the help I wanted with everything and then a few hours later another dcfs worker comes to my apt and tells me I have to voluntarily give up my daughter to safe home or they will take protective custody of my newborn daughter even though I told them repeatedly I wanted to go to rehab where I could have her with me and they neglected to do anything to help me. I feel forced and I feel like they should have helped me
