Millburn, NJ asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: Just got my 1st speeding ticket here in NJ today. Plead guilty or not guilty?

39:4-98 .14 Speeding (.14 Indicates Exceeding By 10-14 Mph is what's on the ticket. Is it better to appear in court and plead not guilty and just pay a higher fine? Or just pay the fine and accept the 2 points? This is my first ticket so I'm not really sure what to do. Would my insurance go up if I pled guilty even though its my 1st ticket?

A: Your best bet is to seek a free in office consultation with an experienced traffic ticket lawyer that most of us offer to get the correct advise for you. Many variables could exist such as you are 17 and a probationary driver, you can't get a no point ticket. Or lets say you are a CDL driver a no point ticket may be worse for you. Most of the time for a 2 point ticket you are best served by just paying the ticket online or through the mail for 4 point ticket the general advise is to hire a lawyer.
