Q: I have a notice to quit in 60 days landlord is a jerk very abusive and harassing. When asked for a week grace period?
I asked him to calm down talk to me in the morning in a text about a grace period and he continued to be a harassing jerk insulting me, accusatory words that aren't true. So question is I need to get out of here due to the hostility and anger I've had too many times with him. I've had verbal domestic outbursts from him that just go on and on with accusatory name calling and negatives.
He could have just sent me a non renewal of the lease and to be out in60?
Can I get an injunction to stop him from bothering me while I try to get things together to move? I am not able to pay the entire rent until 2 weeks. Can he change the notice to quit to a shorter term after he and his attorney gave me a 60 day if I do not pay the all the rent immediately but in a few weeks? I can and will pay him the remaining but need to secure another place with funds I have. I cannot do both pay him total and put down a security deposit this fast to secure another place to live.
A:
If you are in fear of your health or safety you should go to the court to get a restraining order.
If you do not pay the rent as due the LL may issue a 3 day demand for rent or possession.
If your LL has an attorney working for him you should consider hiring an attorney to represent your best interests and advise you as related to your options, rights, and risks.
