Port Allen, LA asked in Criminal Law for Texas

Q: Will bonding out the Louisiana jail allow Texas to pick up my bf?

My boyfriend is on straight probation in Texas that was transferred to Louisiana. He recently picked up new felony charges in Louisiana; he has a bond set, but cannot bond out because of the probation hold in Texas. Texas has already filed a motion to revoke probation and issued a capias warrant for his arrest to answer in front the judge, both the warrant and motion to revoke have a bond amount. My questions is? If he was to bond out of the Louisiana jail will Texas finally come and get him, since he will be basically sitting on the probation hold in the Louisiana jail?

A: He can post bond on Louisiana charge, however, he won't get release from jail.

He is on hold for Texas and either must post bond for Texas case or waiting until Texas pick him up.

In most cases, the other state has 10 days to pickup inmate or they will be release.
