A: I do not practice in Georgia, but your question remains open for four weeks. If this is a Georgia civil case (it appears to be; it is categorized as Personal Injury/Georgia), you need to check with a Georgia attorney as to the operation of the rules of civil procedure/evidence. But as a general matter, it could depend on the position of the opposing attorney, your attorney's working relationship with them, the significance of the statement you wish to change, if you provided it under oath, the cost of changing other records that were built upon the statement, and a number of other factors. If it's a minor and inconsequential detail, it might not create problems. If it is a key and central element of your case on which other side has invested time in investigating, and changing it will compromise the opposing counsel's defense, and changing it would raise suspicion as to what the motives for changing it are, it might be difficult. Consult with a Georgia attorney on this.
