Louisville, KY asked in Family Law, Child Support and Domestic Violence for Kentucky

Q: Can petitioner get into trouble for breaking TPO?

I petitioned to get an EPO against my child's father on Saturday, the sheriff's office told me to come back on Monday to pick up the paperwork with my court date, We have not been to court yet. I thought he was going to be at work so I went back to the shared house to get the rest of my belonging's but when I got there he was there, I immediately left. He told my mother he was calling the police on me even though I didn't contact him in anyway and the police didn't tell me I was not aloud at that residence. My question is can I get arrested for this?

A: Yes. You can. Hopefully you will not, but it is a violation of the EPO.
