A: If a person is charged with a crime because of your lies then you really do need to come clean and admit the truth, even if it means you are punished for the False Report. Hiring your own attorney might make the process smoother, reduce the chances you will be prosecuted, and reduce the severity of your punishment but letting another person be punished for your mistake is wrong on so many levels. If you are telling the truth now, I hope you do what needs to be done to fix it.
