Philadelphia, PA asked in Traffic Tickets for Pennsylvania

Q: I was pulled over for no traffic infraction. I was pulling into a parking space. I saw lights and immediately started

....looking for my license in my wallet. The officer walked up and his first words to me were “are you Jessica Belber?” I said “yes” and he said “your license is expired”. I was completely shocked and since I hadn’t even handed my license over to the officers yet I looked at my license it had indeed expired on my birthday 15 days prior. I handed over my registration, insurance which were both legal and active and my expired license to the officer. The officer then returned with my paperwork and an expensive ticket and something that I am sure will affect my insurance rates moving forward. Do I have any rights to fight this ticket? There was no legitimate reason to pull me over other than he ran my plate and saw my name and saw my license was expired. I was designated driver for a friend for her birthday that night. I NEVER go out at night. I haven’t been out in a decade. I’m 40! My husband stayed home to watch our 4 year old and 8 year old. This is all so ridiculous! Now what?

A: Not sure why he ran your plate, but having done so it would've been nicer if he gave you a warning. Get your renewal, plead not guilty, see what the DJ does with it.
