Denver, CO asked in Landlord - Tenant for Colorado

Q: Hi! I live in an apartment in Colorado and to pay rent we have an online portal and mays rent somehow went missing

I paid May's rent through my apartments online portal and got a notice the following day saying that I still needed to pay rent. I emailed them the email confirmation that the apartment sends out (with a confirmation number) after paying through the online portal along with a pdf file of my bank account showing that the money was taken out in full from my account. They then requested a trace ID number from my bank which I obtained. My apartment is extremely unhelpful and difficult to work with and impossible to communicate with and has threatened to evict me several times during this whole altercation, after I have done nothing but attempt to resolve it. I explained to them that I don't feel comfortable paying June's rent until May's rent money was resolved. After speaking with my bank it has been confirmed that the money was taken out of my account and sent to the apartment. I am wondering what legal right do I have to not pay June's rent until the problem is resolved?

A: Withholding June's rent will get you evicted.

Proof of the payment RE May rent will be a defense to any future claim on non-payment.
