Q: An animal shelter save my dog and had me release my rights because I was in jail how do I get my dog back

While I was in custody my dog was hit by a car and a shelter fixed the dog but they had me sign my rights away or they were going to put my dog down that. Was my two option options I had . I signed to release interest in the dog because that way it would live that's all I could do at the time now they don't want to give me my dog back how do I retrieve my dog
