Mount Laurel, NJ asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: 39:6B-2 Penalties?

Yesterday evening I was driving home from the mechanic in my boyfriend's car, which is insured under my name. The check engine light is on so the inspection of the car is expired. My boyfriend did not tell me that he was a few days late paying the renewal for the insurance either so I never knew until, I got pulled over, and the cop told me. I received three tickets, two that are payable offenses and one for which I have to appear in court with 39:6B-2. I really cannot afford to have my licence suspended with two kids in two different schools and two jobs in opposite directions of each other. Any advice? I also immediately renewed the license that night when I got home, so the insurance is now up to date.

A: You're looking at a 302 $500 fine one-year loss of your driver's license and Community Service as determined by the court. Get yourself a good lawyer and insurance now on the car and you may be able to avoid this. Don't get a good lawyer and you may not be driving for the next year.
