Q: Whats the best advice you would give to a high school student wanting to proceed into the field of law? (C.O or Lawyer)

I am contemplating between going to law school and become a lawyer or being a Correctional Officer.

A: Those are very different fields. I suggest you speak with your career counselor. If you do not have one, reach out to local lawyers or the local lawyer bar association to see if they have mentor programs for highschool students. You can do the same for the field of correctional officer. Whatever field you choose, study hard and stay focused. Just as you are doing now, do not be afraid to ask for help.

A: Think about what your aspirations and your needs are. If you want to become an attorney, speak with attorneys and find out if you can work in their offices to learn what the field is like. If you want to become a correctional officer, learn as much about the job as you can; contact people in the corrections industry. For each, look into the educational requirements, cost to meet those, and assess those with your needs and your plans for the future. The more you learn about both fields, the better a position you'll be in to make a decision about which one suits you best. Good luck
